LIFE COMMUNITY SERVICES: The Birth Of A Vision

“Open your mouth for the dumb,
for the rights of all who are left
desolate. Open your mouth, judge
righteously, maintain the rights of
the poor and needy.”

Proverbs 31:8-9

In the New Testament, Jesus came into the world to defend the rights of the afflicted. He came with a mission to preach, liberate, heal and deliver (Luke 4:18-19). He came with the purpose to reach the needy,
change rigid mindset and touch community. He came with the heartbeat of God. He felt for the people. He cried over their pain and losses. He bore their infirmities. He set the example for us to follow today.
It was this Christ-taught vision that saw the birth of Life Community Services (LCS) in early 1996. LCS was established to sow God’s love and compassion in a hurting world through caring community works under
the auspices and sponsorship of Glad Tidings Assembly of God, Petaling Jaya.

Vision
To relieve the yoke of the less fortunate
To release those under bondage and captivity
To befriend the lonely and friendless
To provide shelter to the neglected and abandoned
To counsel the lost and wounded
To alleviate the plight of the sick and infirm
To teach godly values to those who would listen

Objectives
LCS seeks to establish, operate and provide:

Homes for the orphans or abused children
Rehabilitation centers for drug addicts
Support services for senior adults
Counseling services for the troubled and their family members
Kindergartens or educational centres for the young
Other homes and centers to meet the various needs of the community
Relief and assistance to disaster- stricken victims, the poor, and other related needs.

From the humble beginning of a childcare centre in 1996, the hands of the Lord have guided the LCS Ministry into other areas of social concern work.
By His grace, today, a total of 6 centres and homes come under the LCS Ministry. These are:

  • Lifezone, a Drug Rehabilitation Centre, started in March 1996
  • Senior Adults in June 1997
  • Rumah Juara, a Home for Orphans, Neglected and Underprivileged children in January 1998
  • Lifecare, a Counseling Centre in January 2001
  • Mighty Kids, a Child Development Centre in January 2002
  • Heritage Home, a senior adults home in January 2002
Roles of LCS
Oversees and coordinates the programs and curricular of the centers and homes
Organizes fund-raising projects to finance the running costs and meet the many needs of the residents
Provides counseling and advice when necessary

Proverbs 14:31b states, “Whoever is kind to the needy honors God.” We therefore invite all public organizations, corporate bodies and individuals to help us help the less privileged in society.
We value all forms of assistance, contributions, sponsorship and support.
