HAPPY ENDINGS!!
(Ecclesiastes 7:8-10)

A Message by Rev Dr Vincent Leoh on 27 December 2009
christmas7

“Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof…” (Eccl. 7:8)‏

I. WHY PEOPLE HAVE SAD ENDINGS (PAY HEED TO THESE WARNING SIGNS!)

1.  WE ALLOW PRIDE TO DESTROY US  (:8c – the proud in spirit) 2 Chron. 26:16

2.  WE ALLOW ANGER TO CONSUME US  (: 9 – be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry; for anger resteth in the bosom of fools – KJV / Don’t be quick to fly off the handles. Anger boomerangs -  Message Bible)‏

3.  WE ALLOW THE PAST TO HOLD US BACK   (: 10 – Don’t always be asking, “Where are the good old days?” Wise folks don’t ask questions like that – MB)‏

Yesterday ended last night!

II. WHAT MAKES FOR GOOD ENDINGS?

1.  PATIENCE: God will turn your dead end into a finish line (“the patient in spirit” – 8b)‏

Patience in the Lord brings forth…
1.    Power – Isa. 40:31
2.    Perfection – James 1:3-4
3.    Prosperity – Lam. 3:25
4.    Purpose – Psa 40:1-3
5.    Provisions – Isa. 64:4
6.    Promises – Heb. 10:35-36
7.    Purity – Luke 21:19

2.  PERSISTENCE: I WILL KEEP TRYING! (“Sticking to it is better than standing out” – 8b MB) James 1:2-4
It’s not an End but a Bend

THE END OF THE MATTER IS BETTER THAN THE BEGINNING
I WILL BE FAITHFUL TO THE END (Rev. 2:10; 2 Tim. 4:5-8)‏

Happy Endings!

    Hello,

I’m a believer living in the USA. Used to goto GTPJ. I’m currently back in KL for the Christmas season and NY celebrations.

A few months back I met a guy who I thought was God send, even though he isnt a Christian. All communication was via the web as he lives in Japan. All things seem to move smoothly as we got to know each other, however, 2 days ago, out of the blue he declared that pursuing a long distance relationship is not worth it.

I was very disappointed. I prayed over this “new” relationship as it started out, and I guess I got my answer now. But it still hurts.(after all it has only been 2 days)

I was coming to church this morning and wanted to check out if church was still in the same location. I saw this message – and it spoke to me. Thank heavens for a Father who keeps us and guides us and promises us good endings.

    Thank you for the sermon.
