Re-establishing God’s Order for the Family & Marriage:

I. MEN / HUSBANDS : TO LOVE AND LEAD
The Man Has Two Major Responsibilities! Lover and Leade

1. LEADING : GOD’S DIVINE ORDER FOR THE MEN
The Order of Male Headship (1 Cor. 11:3; Eph. 5:23). Headship is not domination. This is what headship is. It is the bestowing of love, respect, honour, protection, caring and every other good and virtuous thing. This is how Christ relates to the church in his role as head of the church.

Choosing to Lead (Josh. 24:15) : Twelve words that can save your home, “But as for me and my house we will serve the Lord!” Joshua, encouraged the men of his day to be what God had designed them to be – Spiritual Leaders. A.B. Simpson called this the “wickedness of weakness” when we men refuse to fulfill our place as the Spiritual head of our household.

2. LOVING : CHRIST’S EXAMPLE (Ephesians 5:25)
Men are commanded to love their wives. This is a command, not a cause and response. “Love… just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her” – unconditionally.

“The greatest thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.” (Josh McDowell).

Is there a man in the house? Gentlemen, take your rightful God-ordained place.

II. WOMEN / WIVES : TO SUPPORT AND SUBMIT

1. SUPPORT AND COMPANIONSHIP (Gen. 2:18)
God’s Purpose in Creation: God made Eve as a suitable helper and companion. We complement each other. Neither Paul nor Peter is saying that a submissive wife is inferior to the husband…her duties are just different.

2. SUBMIT AND RESPECT
(Col. 3:18 ; 1 Peter 3:1; Ephesians 5:22)
Respecting God’s Order of Things : Male-Female Equality. Eph. 5 makes it very clear that men have a need for respect or reverence and the women have a need for love!

The example of godly women and SARAH (1 Pet. 3:5, 6). Sarah called Abraham “my lord.” Her husband was not perfect, but Sarah submitted to him and she was blessed.

Men: Love and Lead; Women : Support and submit – in obedience and watch God bless your home and marriage
